Can I use `redis` as the backend for the meta node instead of `etcd`?

Rick is asking if it's possible to use redis as the backend for the meta node instead of etcd. Martin mentions the plan to switch to SQL DBs in the future and confirms that currently, etcd must be used.

Currently, you have to use etcd as the backend for the meta node.
In the future, RW plans to switch to using SQL DBs instead of etcd.
Using redis as the backend for the meta node is not an option at the moment.
